Don’t forget – Autumn Meeting Saturday 14 October!!

Don’t forget about the big indoor Autumn 2023 meeting to be held next Saturday at Pumsaint Coronation Hall from 10:00 – 13:00. There is plenty of car parking space next to the hall. On this occasion, we are trying a different format for the meeting; there will be an update on some results from the Big Meadow Search 2023, and we will then have several short “Soapbox” sessions by CMG members on various topics.  These will include a short video about the amazing meadow at Blaen Tir, the use of plug plants and other techniques in meadow management, the LERC smartphone app for recording and how to use it, and a preliminary trial on using a leaf vacuum for seed harvesting from meadow plants.

We hope these sessions will stimulate useful discussions and sharing of ideas and experience.  There will be a break for tea/coffee/biscuits, and the main talk will be given by Dr Lizzie Wilberforce, Plantlife Cymru Lead.  Many of you will know Lizzie from her years working for the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales, and more recently as the editor of the relaunched “Natur Cymru” magazine, and her work with Initiative for Nature Conservation Cymru (INCC).  Lizzie’s talk is titled “We Need to Talk About Grasslands”, and will focus on the grassland projects Plantlife are running.

See below poster for the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend whether or not they are a CMG member, so please spread the word and share the poster with anyone you know who might be interested.  And if you know of any local noticeboards or othjer sites where it could be displayed, please print some out and put them up! Hope to see you on Saturday
