The Wildlife Trust’s East Carmarthenshire Local Group has an event coming up: Wildlife filming with Kate MacRae. Wed 7.30 pm on 20th March at the Capel Newydd Vestry Hall, Crescent Road, Llandeilo SA19 6HN. Their event summary is:
“Join us for an exciting evening with wildlife enthusiast Kate MacRae! Kate’s talk will enthuse us all to think more about what we can do in our spaces, to encourage and support wildlife. It is crammed full of wonderful wildlife captures and will be featuring footage from her new land here in Wales… and even a first record for Carmel Nature Reserve, captured on one of her many trail cameras!
Kate MacRae, also known as ‘Wildlife Kate’, has a passion for connecting people to the nature right outside their window. She has a plethora of wildlife cameras set up around the country and livestreams these on her website, giving viewers an intimate window into their world, as well as an opportunity to learn more about them. Kate moved to Carmel in September and live streams a range of cameras from her land, close to the Carmel Nature reserve.
Kate’s work has regularly featured on BBC Springwatch and Autumnwatch as well as Countryfile, The One Show and many more. She is thought to be the first to film a wild badger give birth, and this was achieved in an artificial sett she built, with internal cameras. This footage was part of Channel 5, Steve Backshaw’s ‘Badgers: Their Secret World’. “
There is free parking after 6pm in the nearby main car park. Entry to the event is free to members and non-members but they rely on donations cover hall and other expenses.
