A couple of things that may be of interest! (one on 8 September)

Firstly – a message Plantlife:

Following the resounding success of meadows groups in Carmarthenshire and Monmouthshire, and the newly launched Ceredigion Group, Plantlife and the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority are keen to see a similar initiative in the National Park that complements the ongoing work of the existing meadows groups. Successful meadows groups have operated independently of conservation charities, councils and government bodies, and so it is important that passionate individuals with land holdings in the Park are able to take ownership for the initiative and to take it forward, with support from Plantlife and the National Park in the early stages.

At this stage, Lawrence Harris (Resilient Grasslands Officer, Plantlife) is eager to identify interested individuals who have land in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park and who may be interested in taking part in a meadows group, with the intention that an exploratory meeting be held later in the year. We are aware that some in the Park may already be a member of the existing Monmouthshire or Carmarthenshire groups – but we’d still be delighted to hear from you.

So if you are interested – or know anyone that might be – then please contact Lawrence at Lawrence.harris@plantlife.org.uk

Secondly – this time its the East Carms group of the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales:

The East Carmarthenshire group of the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales will be visiting Dinefwr Park on Sunday 8 September at  2.00 pm to learn about the dragonflies and pond life of Dinefwr’s mill pond. The speaker will be Carol Bailey, a National Trust Ranger who will explain the life cycle of dragonflies and how the National Trust is helping to conserve Dinefwr’s pond life.

All are welcome to the group’s events. Meet at the Dinefwr Park car park where parking will be free on production of either a Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales or National Trust membership card.
