13 March 2019 – film night?

This may be of interest to our members:

Last November, S4C showed a film called “Yr Afon Dywyll – Taith yr Afon Tywi” –  or “The Dark River – The Journey of the River Tywi“.  The film was made over a period of five years, and was made in two versions, with commentary in Welsh and in English.  S4C naturally showed the Welsh language version.  The English language version is going to be shown on Wednesday 13th March, at 7.30pm in the Capel Newydd Vestry Hall in Crescent Road, Llandeilo, SA19 6HL (next door to the Civic Hall opposite the public car park entrance).

The film will be introduced by its producer and director, Richard Rees, who lives in the Tywi valley.  The film shows all stages of the river, from its source in the mountains to the sea, and describes the changing landscapes, wildlife and seasons encountered on its journey.  The film (I’m told) is excellent and well worth seeing.

This event has been organised by the East Carmarthenshire Group of the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales.  There will be an admission charge of £3 to raise funds for the Trust, and anyone (Trust member or not) who would like to see the film is welcome.
