YouTube Recording of CMG online meeting on 23 March

For anyone who missed our last online meeting, but would like to see the recording of it, it’s now available on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0RBTYaTv-8&t=1s

Rhys Evans is the organiser of the Nature Friendly Farming Network in Wales – he explained the aims of the organisation, and how it works. The NFFN website has a useful page with research and resources that can be found here: https://www.nffn.org.uk/resources/

Richard Smith of Butterfly Conservation told us about the loss of Brown Hairstreak butterflies in the county and the likely causes.

Malcolm Edwards told us about hedge laying; the benefits to wildlife, the various styles seen across Wales, and why it’s a rural craft that must be maintained.

The three speakers dovetailed with each other very well – and it felt like a very productive grouping. If anyone is keen on learning some hedge laying skills please do let us know – and we can see if it can be organised. It could be a rare winter field meeting. A few photos below to whet your appetite.
